Pools Get the Green Light!

Pools Get the Green Light!

What an emotional term it has been! First, the sad reality hit that Summer Term 2020 was just never meant to be. Then, only one day after the term officially ended the Government made the exciting announcement that indoor pools will be able to reopen from Saturday 25th July. This announcement is phase one in working towards getting our teachers and swimmers back to what they love most! Currently behind the scenes we are busy discussing, planning and preparing to ensure that we are ready for a safe return in September. Things will be very different under the 'new normal' but as always our passion will be teaching swimming in a fun, SAFE and educational way will be at the heart of what we do.

What will the ‘new normal’ look like?

A huge part of planning involves reading through guidelines provided by the UK Government and the governing bodies for swimming in England. There is a lot of information for us to get through but we are doing so thoroughly, considering options from all angles.

So far, some of the suggestions for change include:

> Arriving ready to swim (where possible).

> Showering at home, rather than using the swimming pool facilities.

> Staggering lesson times to avoid crowded changing facilities.

> Social distancing for participants, spectators and staff.

> Staff wearing PPE where necessary.

> Amendments to pool layout (including lanes, seating, entry/exit).

What happens next?

Let’s Swim are working closely with pool operators and the governing bodies to implement a safe return at the start of September - dates will be released as soon as possible. Plans to host a crash course in mid August are underway. This will be a great opportunity to help swimmers reacquaint themselves with their swimming skills and adapt to any changes.

Please register your interest by giving a quick yes or no to our crash course survey.

Share your thoughts with us!

Please know that your input is valued and we appreciate that with upcoming changes you may have questions, this will play a key part in our planning. No matter how big or small please send your queries either by text or by email to info@lets-swim.co.uk. Although we will not be able to respond to correspondence individually, your input will enable us to compile a frequently asked questions list to offer answers and reassurance to everyone.
